IEFK Building Project Progress Report

In Mid-2006, IEFK formed a public relation committee (IEFK-PRC) with a goal to improve communications between the IEFK management and the community at large. After extensive discussions and preparations, IEFK-PRC came up with a plan consisting of several steps to improve communication with and participation to IEFK activities by the community members. One of these steps is a monthly progress report on the construction activities to be sent to you via MCK email list. This report will also be available on the newly launched IEFK web site. Please logon and navigate the website to learn more about IEFK activities and to provide your feedback. You can also contact us directly via the website with any question. A quarterly IEFK financial report will also be posted on the website insha'Allah.

IEFK has put in place several committees/individuals/organizations to ensure appropriate supervision and proper checks and balances for the construction project. The current phase of the project consists of completing the main school building, a retaining wall (which will serve as second wall for the gymnasium), roads and parking.

Here are the main players and their functions:

Construction Committee: Meets at least every other week to review the progress of the construction and to approve any significant changes to the project: Current members of the Construction Committee are:

General Contractor: Mohamed Nofal, P.E. is the holder of the construction permit. He visits the construction site at least once a day to ensure that work performed by the contractor is in line with the building plan and properly meets IEFK/Annoor Academy requirements.

Scott Sprangler: Superintendent of Trigem (a company owned by the Siddiqi family) acts as the construction supervisor and is the primary interface with the contractors. He reviews and provides initial approval of all payment requests. Further review of the payment requests is done by Nadeem Siddiqi and Mohamed Nofal. Mohammad Elharithi gives the final approval.

Michael Brady, Inc. (MBI): Under contract with IEFK, MBI helps IEFK in writing and negotiating contracts. They also monitor the progress of the construction activities and review and approve all payment requests before they are sent to the bank for releasing funds.

Others involved in bid negotiation, materials purchase, bill approval and bill payment include: Isa Alizoti, Nadeem Siddiqi, Mohammad Elharithi and Iqbal Ahmed.
